AiA Pen Pal Program
The objective of the AiA Pen Pal Program is to promote creative and artistic communication among children worldwide. We have setup a network of schools around the world, through which schools are paired and exchange informative artworks on their own country and culture.
Through those exchanges, we intend to make the children aware of the world they live in, by giving them the tools and the opportunity to communicate creatively with children from foreign countries.
Participating schools are paired and asked to develop artworks following a specific subject suggested by AiA. Once the artworks are ready, both schools send a package containing the artworks prepared to each other.
AiA also sends a list of evaluation questions to each school. Each teacher is asked to answer them with their students and sent them back to AiA. The aim of the questions is to evaluate the impact of the exchange on the students; as well as to encourage the students to think about the artworks they have received, and all the amount of information they can deduct from it, on their art pals and their art pal's country.
Participation to the AiA Pen Pal Program is complementary to the academic programs of the following classes: Art Education, Cultural and Community Service, Geography, and Foreign Language in some cases (where the paired schools communicate in a language different from their first education language).
How?
Communication between paired schools is done through:
- Teachers: communication is done by email.
The teachers in charge of the Art Pen Pal Program in each pair of schools communicate directly with each other, and agree on the timeframe to prepare and send the artworks. They also communicate and exchange/ask the questions their students have on their art pal country or school.
- Students: communication is done through artworks (creative expression), and through the intermediate of their respective teacher.
To ensure smooth exchanges:
By sending your school's participation form you implicitly agree to respect the school's commitments.
By accepting registration of a school to its ART PPP and by pairing schools together, AiA implicitly agrees to respect the organization's commitment. To read the School's and the Organization's commitments, please click here
