Brussels, Belgium, 20th of September - For 5 years, 2 young photographers Anthony Asael and Stéphanie Rabemiafara traveled 620,000 km through all 192 member countries of the United Nations.
The result of their passion for the children has already been detailed in a prestigious publication “The World Art Book”: a marvelous mosaic of children’s lives throughout the world and some of the different cultures of our planet.
The exhibition is a three dimensional testimony of the wonderful experiences that Anthony and Stéphanie had. Three hundred and ten schools were visited, more than 25,000 drawings and poems were collected, 18,000 children aged between 8 and 12 participated….
The discovery of our world through their eyes.
For each country, a committee of artists was organized to select one solitary piece of art and one poem for which the subject was “Life in my country”.
There are many interactive and playful workshops aimed at entertaining children during their visit. The exhibition allows for them to exchange a drawing made according to one of the subjects suggested by Art in All of Us (for example A Day in my life; Tolerance; How I go to School; The Games of my Country) with children from other countries. In return they will receive a drawing of the same subject from another country.
With the universal language of art as a medium, this exhibition wants to get children and adults to raise questions about cultures, freedom of expression, traditions, the different lifestyles of people sometimes so close and at other times so different from our own...
“Thanks to the perspectives of the young citizens represented in this exhibition, we hope to contribute a comprehensive outlook between different cultures, generations and individuals, which – we’re convinced – can bring a greater tolerance & intercultural comprehension among children and adults“, Anthony Asaël, Founder & Executive Director of Art in All of Us (AiA).
Belgium, the home country of the founders of AiA, has the honour of welcoming the first exhibitions of Art in All of Us in Brussels and Antwerp.
Any profits resulting from the exhibitions will help AiA to further develop and continue to educate the youth of today through the medium of art.
A Press Conference given by the founders of AiA will take place on Tuesday 19 October 2010 at 10.30am at Tour and Taxi, 80 Avenue du Port, 1000 Brussels. It will be followed at 11.15am by a visit to the exhibition by the author and by a lunch.
The non profit status has been supported since its creation by organisations such as UNICEF, SOS Children’s Villages, Fundación America since its foundation and also through the invaluable work of its important network of its 400 volunteers throughout the world.
