Violet is travelling the world
Violet is a paperboard girl born, drawn and created by students in Cote d’Ivoire, in 2006.
The students wrote a few stories about her, and her stay in Cote d’Ivoire, sharing about their daily life. Violet then was sent to travel to the USA, to another school, where thanks to the first letters of Violet’s adventures in Cote d’Ivoire, the students could learn a bit more about this African country. They also wrote a bit about Violet’s stay in their country USA, took a few pictures with her, and sent her along with her stories to a new school in Canada. And so on… since then, Violet has visited other schools in Uruguay and Kenya… she is on her way to a new school in the USA, before flying to Europe and probably Asia...!
Her luggage is getting richer and richer after each school, with more details on the daily life in each country, and also kids’ life at school. The idea is that in each school she visits, students write about Violet's life in their school.
Some schools have drawn her a coat (as she was there in winter), another one a school uniform (very typical of their country), so that next schools learn more about other countries through Violet's adventures and kids' explanations.
All the students she is visiting as well as all those she has already visited learn a bit from each other. Indeed, each school receives back some news of Violet in each country she visits (scans and photographs), so that the link is kept and they keep on learning from Violet’s further adventures with new students!
She is a very fun and useful "game" to be part of, discovering about other kids, and schools through Violet’s travel stories!
